UN Secretary-General: conflict in Donbas prepared for ‘deep freeze’

UN promises to contribute to the settlement of the situation in the Donbas, in particular, to provide humanitarian assistance to those, who need it. It was stated by Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations.

Ban Ki-moon says that the UN promises to contribute to the settlement of the situation in the Donbas, and to provide humanitarian assistance to those who need it, Joinfo.ua reports referring to Interfax.

He also adds that he sees the resolution of the conflict in the Donbas only in conducting dialogue and seeking a compromise, as well as in implementation of commitments.

UN Secretary-General believes that the situation in Ukraine is developing in the direction of creating a frozen conflict, and, in his opinion, the fact that the conflict can be resolved by arms, is an illusion.

As we have previously reported, Ban Ki-moon plans to visit Moscow on May 9, where he will visit the parade in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Fatherland War.
