According to Joinfo.ua, the Committee of the European Parliament approved the draft resolution on strengthening sanctions against Russia if it "continues to destabilize the situation in the Donbas" and not return Crimea.
"If Russia continues to destabilize the situation in the Donbas, and not abandon the annexation of Crimea, the EU should advance sanctions against it and consider providing Ukraine with defensive weapons and other military assistance," the document says.
MEPs are also concerned about the persecution of the Crimean Tatars on the peninsula after the annexation of Crimea and Russia's pressure on the eastern border of the EU.
"The return of Crimea is very important for long-term cooperation between the EU and Russia," the draft resolution reads.
Previously, we reported that the European Parliament adopted a tough resolution on the case of Nadiya Savchenko held in Putin's dungeons.
