Jean-Marie Le Pen, the father of a controversial far-right pro-Russian activist Marine Le Pen, was expelled from the party because of his very harsh statements that can spoil the reputation of the National Front party, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the French political forces.
The report writes that soon the party will hold a meeting, when there will be considered the question of official removal of Le Pen from the position of the honorary chairman of the National Front party, which will serve as the final stage of expulsion from the party.
This decision was made by the Executive Committee of the party after analyzing several recent statements made by 86-year-old Le Pen. In particular, he called the use of gas chambers by Nazi during World War II a "normal part of history", and spoke positively about Marshal Henri-Philippe Petain, who was one of the leaders of the Vichy regime, the Third Reich collaborators.
Previously, the founder of the National Front Jean-Marie Le Pen refused to participate in the elections after an argument with his daughter.
