Ukraine does not recognize elections in occupied territories of Azerbaijan – Nagorno-Karabakh

Ukraine does not recognize the so-called 'parliamentary elections' held May 3, 2015 on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and considers them illegitimate.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine claims that the results of the "parliamentary elections" in the occupied territories can not have legal consequences, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In addition, the press service notes that Ukraine stands for peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the principles of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders.

It should be recalled that Nagorno-Karabakh is a region in the South Caucasus. In fact, most of it is controlled by the unrecognized Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, regarded by Azerbaijan as its territory.
