The Italian Government does not want to extend the sanctions against Russia, and intends to speak for the abolition of prolongation of economic measures against the Russian Federation. It was stated by Federico Eichberg, the head of the Office of Trade Policy at the Ministry of Economic Development of Italy, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Russian media.
“Since February, Italy has clearly and concisely stated: the Council of Ministers will not vote for extension of sanctions,” said Eichberg.
He believes that Russia is a reliable partner for Italy.
Earlier, President of the European Council, Donald Tusk spoke about the difficulties in maintaining a common EU position on the issue of sanctions against Russia. At the moment, the European Union officially declares that the sanctions measures against Russia will be in force until the full implementation of the Minsk Agreement and, if necessary, will be extended until the end of the year.
