Mogherini chooses Ban Ki-moon over Poroshenko

In a telephone conversation with Pavlo Klimkin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Mogherini apologized to President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, and the head of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, for not being able to join the summit, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of Mogherini.

She explained that she would not come to the summit "due to the obligation to meet with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the end of an emergency meeting of the European Council of April 23."

The main topic of the summit of the European Union on April 23 was the problem of migration in the Mediterranean. The heads of state of the EU have expressed their intention to co-ordinate their approaches with the UN to combat criminal organizations involved in illegal transportation of illegal immigrants.

It should be recalled that today, April 27, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will participate in the Ukraine-EU summit.
