Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov wants Obama to participate in negotiations on Donbas

In the air of a radio station, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia had its position on the issue of whether America should or should not participate in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

According to the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, everyone, including the President of the United States, supported the Minsk agreement dated February 12, 2015, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"If the U.S., as the rest of the world, supports the full implementation of the Minsk agreements, it has enormous leverage over the side that does not comply with them – the Ukrainian government. Everyone recognizes that so far, the document of February 12 is the best compromise. I do not know whether it would have been so, if Barack Obama had participated in the well-known night negotiations. Let's not guess. The document turned out to be good, and it was made by four people – the leaders of the Normandy Four. It must be implemented. And here the U.S can play an invaluable role, because its level of impact on Kyiv is very high," Lavrov said.

It should be recalled that the former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul believes in the necessity of Obama's participation in the negotiations in the Normandy format.
