Poroshenko announces referendum on accession to NATO

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced his plans to hold a referendum raising the question of accession to NATO.

He stated this in an interview with French television channel iTele, TSN reports.

"The issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO is a fundamental issue. I intend to hold a referendum in order for people to make a decision," said Poroshenko.

It should be recalled that the Ukrainian government intends to sign an agreement with NATO on cooperation in support issues. Ihor Dolhov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine, was appointed as responsible for signing the document.
