Poroshenko calls on Red Cross to assist in Savchenko’s release

President of Ukraine met with President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross. It was announced by the press-secretary Svyatoslav Tsegolko in his Twitter.

"The President Poroshenko urged President of the Red Cross Maurer to intensify the work for immediate release of Nadiya Savchenko," he wrote.

According to the official website of the head of state, the parties have particularly discussed conditions in which prisoners are kept in the occupied territories.

President Maurer noted that the ICRC was willing to participate in the process of liberation of all hostages more actively, particularly in their secure transportation and the search of missing persons.

The parties have also discussed social support to the residents of Donbas, particularly those who had passed registration outside the occupied territories. "We are doing everything possible to minimize suffering of people and provide money to them," the Head of State said.

It should be recalled that Ukraine has finally decided to rebuff Russia and adopted the resolution "On resistance to Russian armed aggression and overcoming its consequences."
