Kremlin will not risk by openly attacking NATO member

Russia will not risk by openly attacking a NATO member. This opinion was expressed by the commander of the U.S. army in Europe, Lieutenant-General Frederick 'Ben' Hodges.

Frederick Ben Hodges

According to him, "the recent involvement of Russian forces in fighting in eastern Ukraine" has demonstrated that Moscow has made huge advances, particularly in the field of electronic warfare, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Daily Telegraph. However, he expressed confidence that Russia would not risk by openly attacking a member of the North Atlantic Alliance.

"They don't want a military confrontation with NATO. Our alliance is the most successful alliance in history and it has a lot of capability," said the commander of the U.S. army in Europe.

Hodges also said the United States wanted to have the upper hand in all spheres. "I don't think that we've fallen behind but Russia has closed the gap in certain capabilities. We don't want them to close that gap," said the General.

He also said the United States still wanted to see Russia in the international community. According to him, Washington wants to cooperate with Russia against radical Islam and Iran's nuclear program.

It should be recalled that Hodges also said that NATO must be prepared militarily to "ensure effective diplomacy."
