Putin believes that the sanctions imposed by the EU, U.S., Canada and other countries have helped the government and the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Joinfo.ua reports.
"Russia is not Iran, the question is not how to "tolerate" the sanctions, and how to use them. We would not have introduced such protective measures without sanctions. And the sanctions actually have helped the government and the Central Bank," he added.
"You could say:" We are forced to behave this way due to the sanctions." Not only because of this, but because of the fact, that we need adjust our economic policy more professionally and consistently," said Putin.
Talking about the actions to avoid sanctions, he said that it was always possible to do something else, but "I think that we have done the best way."
Also, according to Putin, Russia can overcome any threat, if consolidation of society is sustained. "If we maintain a stable internal political situation and preserve the consolidation of the society that we have now, we will cope with any threat," he says.
Russian President said that Russia had "enough resources" to overcome existing problems. "Our task – the task of the president, the government, the Central Bank, the regional leaders – is to go through this period with minimal losses," said the head of state.
