Russian Security Council doesn’t understand why Ukraine wants to join NATO and considers Russia as threat

The Security Council of Russia is seriously concerned that Ukraine is going to join NATO and calls Russian policy a key threat.

Such a statement was voiced by Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Joinfo.ua informs.

"The Office of the Security Council of Russia will study the draft of the National Security Strategy of Ukraine by 2020, the presentation of which was launched yesterday in Kyiv," the statement reads.

"Today we can say that we are concerned by the fact that Russia's policy is called a key threat to the country but membership in NATO and reduction of economic relations between our countries is a priority for the development of the state," said the representative of the Russian Security Council.

According to Patrushev, it is too early to draw final conclusions, but the Russian Security Council will analyze the document to be able to evaluate the possible threats to the national interests of Russia more carefully.
