Prime Minister of Serbia supports territorial integrity of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.

Poroshenko said that Ukraine had always supported territorial integrity of Serbia. Vucic, in turn, confirmed recognition of territorial integrity of Ukraine, Joinfo.ua reports referring to the press service of the head of state.

Ukrainian President told the Serbian prime minister about the latest developments in the Donbas and expressed his hope that Serbia, which chairs the OSCE, would use all opportunities for full implementation of the Minsk agreement by all parties.

The two sides agreed to coordinate actions to improve the efficiency of monitoring of the OSCE SMM, in particular, they stressed on the need to increase the number of inspectors and improve their technical support.

Poroshenko also urged Serbia to strengthen criminal liability for participation of its citizens in the illegal armed groups in the Donbas. Vucic assured that it was such an approach, Serbia was going to adhere to regarding mercenaries.

It should be recalled that in the towns of the Donbas, there appeared a lot of foreign mercenaries. According to local residents, at the checkpoint in Olenivka are Serbs, who do not know either Russian or Ukrainian language, but "firmly work for the salary of a Russian mercenary."

As it is known, Serbia is ready to join the EU, but also it is closely linked with Moscow. It is because of such a pro-Russian stance Belgrade did not support sanctions against the Russian Federation. The European Union in turn requires that the candidate countries take the same decision as the EU.
