Upkeep of Crimea will cost Russia $ 200 billion

Financing of Crimea will cost the Russian budget 150-200 billion dollars over several years. This opinion was expressed by former Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin.

According to him, the financing of Crimea will cost 7.6 billion dollars a year. "Given the indirect and other costs, the figure would be much higher, in total 150-200 billion over three or four years," he said, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Russian media.

In turn, the president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Crimea's joining Russia was economically beneficial for the country, despite the external pressure.

"Crimea reunited with Russia, and, of course, there arose additional revenues associated with the growth of the territory, the emergence of two major subjects of the Russian Federation, and the unprecedented external pressure," said Peskov.

It should be recalled that after the annexation of Crimea, the invaders received a significant amount of military equipment: ships, vessels, and antiship systems. In monetary terms, the military losses of Ukraine for annexation of Crimea are estimated at 1.5 billion hryvnia, and the total amount of state property lost on the peninsula – 1 trillion 180 billion hryvnia.
