According to the foreign press, counterintelligence special services of Lithuania inform that Russian diplomats and their actions threaten security of the country – Russia is conducting active espionage activities in Lithuania. It is reported by the dpa news agency with reference to the annual report of the Intelligence Service of Lithuania, Joinfo.ua reports.
According to counterintelligence of Lithuania, about a third of Russian diplomats in the country is working on their special services or is connected with them in any way.
It should be recalled that in 2014 there were expelled three Russian agents from Lithuania, including Consul General in Klaipeda. He tried to obtain sensitive information about the political interests of Lithuania and an energy project planned in the country.
Also, reconnaissance services of Lithuania issued a report on negative consequences for security of the country caused by the actions of Russia in the east of Ukraine and the "constant show of military force" on the part of the Russian Federation. According to the estimations of intelligence agencies, though Moscow can not start a war with NATO, it can wreck nerves of individual members of the Alliance by "hidden hostilities."
