Approximately 300 paratroopers of the U.S. forces will arrive in Ukraine for training soldiers of three battalions of the National Guard, Joinfo.ua reports.

The exercises are scheduled for the end of April at the training center in the city of Yavoriv, the Lviv region (West Ukraine), reads the statement of the Ministry of Defense, published on Thursday, March 19. The exercises will be carried out to improve the defense capabilities of Ukraine.

The military trainers will be the army men from the 173rd Airborne Brigade, located in the Italian city of Vicenza, said Pentagon spokesman Army Col. Steve Warren. The exact date for the start of training is still unknown. According to the Reuters news agency, the exercises were planned in August 2014 for mid-March, but they were postponed due to the start of implementation of the Minsk Agreement.

March 18, during a telephone conversation with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden said that in the near future the American instructors would hold exercises with 780 soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine.

The Vice President also said that the first batch of military vehicles to strengthen the defense capability of Ukraine would arrive in Ukraine in late March.
