President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden, Joinfo.ua reports referring to the press service of the head of state.
Poroshenko told about the situation in the Donbas and informed about the latest regulations, adopted by the Ukrainian parliament pursuant to the Minsk agreements.
Joseph Biden told about the decision of President of the United States to conduct training for 780 Ukrainian soldiers of the National Guard, which will be held in the near future.
The Vice President also said that in late March Ukraine would receive the first batch of military vehicles to strengthen the defense capability of Ukraine.
Ukrainian President thanked the United States for a strong stance regarding Crimea and consistent support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
It should be recalled that March 17, pursuant to the Minsk Agreement, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted in favor of the presidential bill amending Article 10 of the Law "On special order of local government in some regions of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions", according to which, Article 9.2 of the law on the peculiarities of local government in some Donbas areas will come in force from the date of local self-governing authorities coming to power. In addition, it is planned to hold early local elections with mandatory international standards.
The bill also defines the conditions for independent elections, in particular, the withdrawal of all illegal armed groups, military equipment, and militants.
