According to the press service of the White House, U.S. President Barack Obama held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and discussed the events in Ukraine. In particular, they agreed to maintain the new sanctions against Russia, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the White House.
The two leaders agreed on the need for full and rapid implementation of the Minsk Agreement in order to achieve lasting and peaceful settlement of the conflict. They reaffirmed their agreement that they would not ease sanctions imposed against Russia, as long as Russia fulfilled all its obligations set forth in the Minsk Agreement.
Obama and Merkel also believe that it is very important to continue to provide Ukraine with economic support as long as it implements the necessary reforms.
