According to the local media reports, among those killed are two British citizens, one tourist from France, Italy, and Spain, two others are not identified, Joinfo.ua reports.
According to the local law enforcement authorities, the number of hostages may be up to 30 people.
It is noted that originally, the shooting occurred in the Bardo Museum, next to the Parliament of Tunis. One of the MPs said that the work of the legislative authorities was suspended after the shots rang out there as well. At the time of the attack on the parliament, the deputies were discussing the draft law on fighting terrorism. All parliamentarians were evacuated.
According to the law enforcement agencies, now the militants and hostages are in the museum – they are surrounded by security forces.
The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has stated checking possible presence of the Ukrainians among the killed. "The Ukrainian Embassy in Tunis check the possible presence of the Ukrainian citizens among the victims of the current disorders in the country," said Yevhen Perebyinis, a spokesperson for Ukraine's Foreign Ministry.
