Riots in Frankfurt led to mass arrests of their participants. The local police announced the arrest of about 300 people in Frankfurt, Joinfo.ua reports.
The reason for the radical protest was the opening of a new office of the European Central Bank. Called on by the Blockupy radical left movement, the protesters tried to storm the building of the Central Bank. Anti-globalists opposing the European economy policy burned seven cars, at least two police officers were injured.
Protesters threw stones at police officers and erected barricades. Police used water cannons and tear gas in response.
Also, the radical young people blocked the bridge over the Main River and the main transport hub of the city. There were reported burned garbage dumpsters and masked protesters leaving the scene.
Blockupy accuses the ECB of "austerity and poverty" in the European countries.
