Ukrainian Parliament recognizes Donbas as temporarily occupied territory

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution on recognition of individual regions, cities, towns, and villages of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions as temporarily occupied territories.

This decision was supported by 280 deputies, Joinfo.ua reports.

Volodymyr Groysman, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stated that certain territories of the Donbas, which are now controlled by the militants, were recognized as temporarily occupied as long as the militants and Russian forces were not withdrawn from there.

These areas will be considered as temporarily occupied until the full control over the state border of Ukraine is regained.

It should be recalled that the Ukrainian parliament adopted a draft presidential decree on invitation of peacekeeping mission to Ukraine and made changes in the Article 10 of the Law "On special order of local government in some regions of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions."
