U.S. gives Ukraine $ 26 million for reform of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine

The U.S. and Ukraine signed an agreement on allocation of $ 26 million for the reform of the Ministry of Interior of Ukraine.

 

"We have signed an important agreement. The United States government has allocated more than 26 million dollars of financial assistance to Ukraine for reformation of the Interior Ministry and the needs of the Border Service. It is very important help for us, but more important is the support provided by the U.S. government," said Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

He specified that all legislative acts, laws, regulations concerning reforms would be adopted before the summer of this year. "The Law on the National Police, the Law on Internal Affairs, the Law on traffic changes due to liquidation of traffic police and others," the minister added.

Earlier Avakov reported that $ 16.7 million out of the allocated sum would be spent on reformation of the law enforcement authorities and $ 9.6 million – on reformation of the criminal justice sector, including the fight against corruption.
