Senator McCain compares Steinmeier to British Prime Minister of late 1930s.

Senator John McCain believes that German Foreign Minister Walter Steinmeier resembles Neville Chamberlain, the head of the British government and a supporter of 'appeasement' policy.

Senator John McCain criticized German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who shies away from "limiting the actions of Vladimir Putin, who is destroying the Ukrainians," said a member of the U.S. Senate yesterday in Washington.

McCain believes that German Foreign Minister "doesn't have any credibility."

In such a way, Senator responded to the letter of the German minister criticizing the message composed by McCain and another 46 Republican Senators. In the message to the Iranian leadership, Senators warn that without ratification of the U.S. Congress a possible agreement on Tehran's nuclear program can be abolished after completion of Barack Obama's days in office in 2017.

German Foreign Minister Steinmeier expressed concern regarding the fact that the message of Republicans might make Tehran doubt its trust for "six" international mediators. "The negotiations are quite complex, so we do not need an additional uncertainty factor," Steinmeier said.

McCain also accused the German politician in commitment to the diplomacy in the style of Chamberlain, who pursued a policy of appeasement in the 1930s, which subsequently led to an increase in Hitler's appetites and global war.

It should be recalled that German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that the European order established after 1989, can be destroyed by the actions of Russia.
