NATO Secretary-General calls on Russia to respect neighbors’ boundaries once again

NATO does not seek confrontation with Russia, but will not tolerate disrespect of its neighbors and borders.

Fragile truce in the Donbas is not controlled as provided by the Minsk agreements, Joinfo.ua reports the statement of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, March 12 at a press conference in Madrid. Special monitoring mission of the OSCE failed to monitor the ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy weapons from the Donbas.

"Despite the fact that this is all still very fragile, the Minsk and cease-fire agreements are the basis for any negotiations in finding a peaceful solution. We see definite withdrawal of heavy weapons, and I welcome it, but there is not enough monitoring for both ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy weapons," Stoltenberg said.

NATO does not seek confrontation with Russia, he said, it will not let Russia disrespect its neighbors and borders, as "it is a prerequisite for stability and peace in Europe."
