European Parliament calls on for international investigation of Nemtsov’s murder

The murder of Boris Nemtsov was discussed by the European Parliament. Having adopted a resolution, the deputies demanded to start international investigation.

Today, the European Parliament discussed the murder of Boris Nemtsov and adopted a resolution demanding to start international investigation, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Russian media.

MEPs noted that the death of the opposition leader Nemtsov became the most momentous political assassination in Russia's recent history. The Members of the European Union want to start an "international investigation, given that the tools available within the OSCE, the Council of Europe and the United Nations will help to ensure impartiality and integrity of the investigation".

In addition, MPs condemned the decision of the Russian authorities not to allow "some EU diplomats and national delegations" to attend the funeral of Nemtsov.

It is to be recalled that the opposition leader Boris Nemtsov was shot dead February 27 at 11.15 p.m. near the Kremlin. There was was initiated criminal proceedings. Among the defendants of the case there are five people: Khamzat Bakhaev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, Shagit Gubashev, Anzor Gubashev and Zaur Dadaev. Dadaev confessed to the murder, but later he retracted his words. All the suspects claim that they did not commit the murder of Boris Nemtsov, and filed an appeal against the arrest warrant.
