On his Facebook page, Usakovs posted a photo of him with the Abrams tank. "This time the beginning of the week is unusual. Selfie with American tank in the Riga port," the mayor wrote.
In the port there were unloaded M1A2 Abrams tanks and M2A3 Bradley armored vehicles with a total number of 120 units, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Latvian website db.lv. Also there came another military equipment.
The tanks were brought to Latvia as an aid from the United States. Armored vehicles, as well as staff that accompanies it, will strengthen the defense of Latvia under constant rotational operation of NATO troops Atlantic Resolve. At the same time, NATO reports that it does not create its bases in the Baltic states.
