The Russian TV channel "Russia-1" released the movie trailer by Andrei Kondrashov called "Crimea. Way Home." In an interview with an employee of the channel, Russian President Vladimir Putin told about how the operation of annexation of Crimea was conducted, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to DW.
According to the Russian president, initially, the heads of the security services and the Ministry of Defense had a goal to "save the life of President of Ukraine", who, according to Vladimir Putin, was threatened with destruction. "We were ready to remove him straight out of Donetsk, by land, by sea and by air. It was between February 22 and 23. We ended up at about 7 am," says Putin. "While leaving, I told all of my colleagues that we had to start working on the return of Crimea to Russia," the Russian leader said.
It should be recalled that a year ago the Russian troops had occupied the peninsula.
March 16, 2014 in Crimea and Sevastopol, the occupants had so-called "referendum on the status of the peninsula", which acted as a justification for the annexation to Russia, despite the fact that neither Europe nor the United States recognized the legitimacy of the plebiscite.
