During her visit to Japan, German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke for extension of sanctions against Russia, but at the same time she noted the need to find a diplomatic solution to the conflict, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Japanese media.
Angela Merkel also believes that today there is need for reform of the UN Security Council and cooperation with Japan and Brazil is very important, in particular in the direction of the fight against international terrorism.
German Chancellor also touched the issue of execution of two Japanese citizens by the Islamic state militants and terrorist attacks in Paris in January of this year.
It should be recalled that the other day President of Ukraine and Federal Chancellor of Germany held a telephone conference when they discussed the introduction of further sanctions against Russia and their extension until full implementation of the Minsk agreements, including the restoration of control over the Ukrainian-Russian border.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi agreed on the issue of expansion of sanctions against Russia.
