The fight against corruption in China has become a priority of the internal work of the Chinese authorities. After a series of corruption incidents the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China decided to awaken honesty in its employees by organizing excursions to prisons, said Xu Shaoshi, the Chairman of the NDRC, Joinfo.ua reports.
During the period from May 2013 to October 2014 there were arrested 19 current and former employees of the National Commission on suspicion of bribery. Among them is Cao Changqing, the former head of NDRC's pricing department.
Xu Shaoshi said that "a considerable number of employees of the pricing Department had corruption problems," and that "we strongly support the fight of the central government against corruption, including within our committee."
"After the occurrence of corruption cases, we have taken a series of measures and intensive education reporter friends may know, last year we also organized more than 200 Beijing cadres visited several prisons, carry out warning education," Xu Shaoshi said.
He added that the department investigates the causes of corruption in the department in order to create a transparent system for staff monitoring.
