The Government of Canada intends to impose new sanctions against Russia if it continues to violate the peace agreements in Ukraine. It was stated by Rob Nicholson, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, after his meeting with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, reports Joinfo.ua with reference to La Presse.
"In my meeting with Minister Fabius, I underscored our government's steadfast and unrelenting commitment with the people of Ukraine in the face of Vladimir Putin's military aggression," Nicholson said.
He recalled that Canada had already imposed tough sanctions against Russia and, according to him, the country can install next restrictive measures against the aggressor without hesitation.
The Minister noted that Russia was responsible for the growing violence in Ukraine after conclusion of the agreements in Minsk on February 12.
Nicholson added that the Ukrainian 'tragedy' is a direct outcome of President Putin's provocation.
Earlier, in Geneva U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was warned that new sanctions against Russia were very possible.
