Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has denied the information on weapons supply to Kyiv, distributed in the media with reference to Advisor to Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Herashchenko. The corresponding statement of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs was published on Friday, February 27. The report says that the agreement on military-technical cooperation with Ukraine does not involve the supply of weapons, but "is a part of future cooperation between the two countries in this regard," DW news agency reports.
Earlier, Advisor to Interior Minister of Ukraine and MP Anton Herashchenko announced on Facebook that during the visit of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to the UAE there was reached an agreement on "supply of certain types of arms and military equipment to Ukraine." Press service of President reported on supply of "means of defense."
Herashchenko explained to Ukrainska Pravda newspaper that under the 'arms' he meant military equipment, such as Cougar cars. "And I have not written a single word about lethal weapon, I did not use the word "heavy weapons," he added.
