Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov believes that after having reached a new set of agreements in Minsk on February 12, there is a real chance to end senseless bloodshed and achieve national peace and harmony, Joinfo.ua reports quoting the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"We are convinced that if the Minsk agreements enshrined in the UN Security Council resolution will be executed, the situation will normalize slowly but steadily. We spoke about it during the meeting in the Normandy format held in Paris on February 24. We discussed the parties' observance of the comprehensive ceasefire regime and withdrawal of heavy weapons. There is a progress. Today, we already have good news. This progress must be nailed down with more active support of the OSCE mission.
It is important that the other clauses of the agreements, including solution of humanitarian problems, conduction of constitutional reform, ensuring legitimate rights and interests of the Donbas residents, be implemented in accordance with the established schedule. In order to avoid a split of Ukraine and maintain an atmosphere of trust and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area it is necessary for Kyiv to have neutral status," Lavrov said.
