Russian Parliament ‘gets hungry’ and asks to cancel grocery embargo

The State Duma of the Russian Federation will consider a bill to abolish grocery embargo.

The deputies of the party A Just Russia introduced a draft law proposing the State Duma of the Russian Federation to cancel the grocery embargo introduced in response to the new sanctions against Russia because of the war in Ukraine, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Russian media.

The MPs believe that the embargo is not just ineffective, but also triggered an unprecedented chaotic rise in food prices. After all, a huge list of products are imported into Russia through the territory of the neighboring states and undergo the process of re-export.

Among the initiators of the bill there are Valeriy Zubov, Sergey Petrov, Sergey Doronin, and Dmitry Gudkov.

It should be recalled that grocery embargo on meat, dairy, and other products from the United States, EU, Canada and Norway was introduced in August 2014.
