At a press conference Pavlo Klimkin announced that the official discussions of UN peacekeepers in Ukraine began today, Joinfo.ua reports.
According to Klimkin, recently, the informal consultations were held with several key partners. There was discussed the logic of the peacekeeping mission, its possible mandate and members.
Pavlo Klimkin stressed that Ukraine needs peacekeepers to ensure implementation of the Minsk agreements.
According to the Ukrainian official, the peacekeeping mission in the Donbas should not include Russian security forces.
"If this is a joint mission of the EU and the UN, I will speak for the European component denominating in this mission. Also I would like to note that the Russian representatives, as representatives of the aggressor, do not have the right to take part in it," the Minister said.
Klimkin said that it was not only a matter of the mission's credibility, but it was a matter of principle.
