National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (RNBO) adopted an appeal to the UN and the European Union on the start of the work of peacekeeping and security missions on the territory of Ukraine, Joinfo.ua reports.

"We discussed the issue and decided to address to the UN and the EU regarding peacekeeping and security missions on the territory of Ukraine," said RNBO secretary Oleksandr Turchynov after yesterday's meeting of the Security Council.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine intends to develop an address regarding the appeal to the UN and the EU to bring peacekeepers to Ukraine that will be supported by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Turchynov said that the peacekeepers would be located both along the line of clashes in the Donbas and along the uncontrolled area of the Ukrainian-Russian border.

According to President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the issue of introduction of peacekeepers was previously discussed in Minsk with French and Russian presidents Francois Hollande and Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
