Kremlin nervously responds to decision to invite peacekeepers in Donbas

The Kremlin believes that introduction of peacekeepers in Ukraine contradicts the last Minsk agreements.

The Kremlin in the name of Vitaly Churkin, Russian representative to the UN, reacted to the call of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to bring peacekeepers. According to the Russian envoy, it contradicts the Minsk agreements reached last week, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Russian media.

Churkin believes that when instead of doing what was agreed upon, some new schemes are put forward, first of all, there appears a suspicion that the Minsk agreements are going to be destroyed.

"The Minsk agreements were reached on February 12. According to these agreements, in the DPR and LPR there will be created its own militia. The OSCE will hold observation of the area of separation," Churkin said.

"If some other schemes are put forward, there arises a question, whether the Minsk agreements are going to be fulfilled or not," he said.

It should be noted that the DPR and LPR militants and Russia continue to violate the Minsk agreements, as evidenced by the systematic attacks on the Ukrainian positions and occupation of the territory in Debaltseve.

According to preliminary information, 22 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and about 158 were injured during the withdrawal of the Ukrainian fighters from Debaltseve.
