OSCE Mission demands militants to stop attacking Debaltseve

OSCE Mission demands the militants to stop the offensive against the city of Debaltseve and let observers into the city. It was announced by Ertugrul Apakan, Head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Ukraine.

"At the moment, so-called "DPR" and "LPR" have effectively denied access to the SMM to Debaltseve. We insist that they immediately cease the offensive. We insist upon unfettered access to Debaltseve and to the full security zone," Apakan said.

Head of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine reported that on February 18, the observers would try again to get to Debaltseve, and if the militants did not let them do it again, the separatists would face "grave consequences."

According to Alexander Hug, Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, the attempts to change the status in the conflict zone around Debaltseve contradict the Minsk agreements.

Meanwhile, in Debaltseve, the hostilities continue. Recently it became known that the Ukrainian army began to withdraw troops from Debaltseve.
