President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Joinfo.ua reports referring to the press service of the head of state.
It is reported that the sides discussed the situation in the Donbas. They expressed concern that, despite the signing of agreements in Minsk on February 12, militants violate the ceasefire, especially in the area of Debaltseve.
Petro Poroshenko and John Kerry also agreed that the lack of access of the Special OSCE Monitoring Mission for monitoring and verification is not conducive to further withdrawal of military equipment and de-escalation. They also noted that all the points of the agreements were obligatory to fulfill, including the restoration of control over the Ukrainian-Russian border.
President of Ukraine and U.S. Secretary of State coordinated positions on the further steps, in particular on the UN Security Council draft resolution on Ukraine.
At the same time John Kerry assured Petro Poroshenko in support of Ukraine's position on the part of the United States.
Earlier it was reported that John Kerry supported the transfer of weapons to Ukraine.
