Latvia will call on the European partners and the EU to give Ukraine weaponry. It was stated by Inara Murniece, Marshal of the Latvian Parliament, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Latvian media.
Inara Murniece is convinced that Ukraine should be provided with additional weapons so that the country effectively confronts a potential aggressor.
At the same time, the leader of the Latvian Parliament stressed that she meant defensive weapons, which will help the country to defend, rather than attack.
Evaluating the position of the Baltic States in the war against Ukraine, Murniece said, "I am convinced that the Baltic countries as well as Poland are acutely aware of the priorities in this matter, which is security. Our countries have realized the need for priority perception of safety much earlier than other EU countries."
The Latvian politician excluded arms supplies from Latvia to Ukraine, given the small reserves of weapons in the country. However, she said she would call upon powerful countries of the European Union to support Ukraine with arms.
Within six months Latvia will chair in the European Union.
