The Polish politician is sure that the provision of weapons to Ukraine should not raise any doubts and disputes. According to the former minister, after all, Ukraine is not a conflict party, that attacked, but on the contrary – it is defending itself. Therefore, provision of means for defense, in order to increase the price of a possible attack, is natural and understandable, Joinfo.ua reports.
During the international debate on rearmament of the Ukrainian army by the West, it was argued that this could lead to even greater escalation. Onyszkiewicz thinks differently. The better Ukraine will be armed, the more the second party will be careful regarding possible escalation of the conflict, says the former Minister of National Defense of Poland.
Janusz Onyszkiewicz hopes that the agreements to be reached during the meeting in Minsk, will not affect the decision of Poland, which still has not renounced the possibility of arms supplies to Kyiv.
According to Onyszkiewicz, the decision of the authorities in Warsaw should not depend on the position of Poland's Western partners.
