Minsk negotiations: Belarus confirms today"s meeting of Trilateral Contact Group

Belarus confirmed the information about today's meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group to resolve the conflict in the Donbas. It was reported by the Belarusian media with reference to the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

As it is known, the Minsk talks between the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Germany, and France scheduled for tomorrow, February 11, are aimed to discuss peaceful solution to the conflict in the Donbas.

It should be recalled that yesterday, separatists announced today's meeting of the Contact Group before the negotiation process, however, nothing was reported about today's formal consultations.

Prior to the meeting, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that if the current intention of the Normandy Four regarding peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Donbas were in vain, the European Union would move to the discussion of the issue of granting Ukraine lethal weapons.

However, the Minister believes in the success of the upcoming talks in Minsk. In his opinion, this is the only option to stabilize the situation in the east of Ukraine.
