In 2015, the Ukrainian army will receive more than 500 basic weapon systems and military equipment, said Vladyslav Seleznyov, the press secretary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at a briefing, Joinfo.ua reports.
"In 2015, according to the state defense order, more than 500 basic weapon systems and military equipment, more than 300,000 units of weapon and more than 3,500 thousands of other weapon systems and military equipment will be provided to the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Seleznyov informed.
Also, according to the contracts being in force in 2014, this year the Ukrainian army will be equipped with about 450 thousand weapons, 70 major and over 600 other weapon systems and military equipment.
Earlier it was reported that the State Concern Ukroboronprom intended to increase the volume of production of Ukrainian tanks in 24 times – from 5 to 120 units annually.
It is planned to develop the production of Oplot basic combat vehicles up to 40 units in 2015, and in 2016 the concern will produce 100-120 such units annually.
In addition, the company Ukroboronprom will start series production of Dozor armored vehicles that have never been in service with the Armored Forces of Ukraine. This year, the company plans to produce up to 50 units of these machines, and in the future not less than a hundred of these units per year.
