New sanctions against Russia would only exacerbate the conflict between Russia and the West, believes the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, who asks not to tighten economic measures against the Russian Federation, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

"We once again call on all the parties involved to avoid further escalation of the conflict and strengthening of sanctions exchange, to continue searching for peaceful diplomatic means to resolve disagreements. Kazakhstan welcomes and supports the continuation of negotiations in any format and at all levels, including the Norman format and is ready to play the role of a negotiation platform," the press service said.

The Foreign Ministry of Russia's partner in the Eurasian Union noted that it was important to ceasefire and to sustainably solve this painful conflict through compromise.

Kazakh diplomats added that Kazakhstan is not involved in the conflict and "continues to take an active part in multilateral consultations to find a solution to the crisis in the Donbas."

Earlier it was reported that the Kazakh government intended to impose embargo on the import of Russian goods. Thus, Government of Kazakhstan wants to protect domestic producers from the rush of cheap Russian goods due to devaluation of the ruble.
