Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the UN Secretary General stated that sending peacekeepers to Ukraine is not excluded.

According to Haq, two circumstances should be provided in Ukraine before the Department of Peacekeeping Operations of the United Nations starts preparation of sending "blue helmets" to the Donbas.

"The appropriate request from the country, as well as the mandate, approved by the Security Council, is needed. So far, we do not have any of the things," Haq said.

He also said that the Security Council had not yet raised the question concerning peacekeepers at the official level. At the same time, he did not rule out that this issue would be discussed at an informal level.

The possibility of sending peacekeepers to Georgia has been discussed in the press for a long time. Recently, in an article for Forbes a journalist Marcel Michelson expressed the opinion that the conflict in the Donbas could be resolved by sending an international group of soldiers of NATO and Russia under unified command to the conflict zone.
