Today, February 5 in Brussels, NATO countries will discuss new plans to increase the presence of NATO in Eastern Europe due to the Russian aggression in Ukraine, reports Joinfo.ua.
NATO defense ministers offer to create a Rapid Reaction Force group numbering four thousand people. This subdivision is necessary for the case of a credible threat from Russia, as well as the risks arising in the Middle East and North Africa.
Also, the Alliance plans to create a network of command centers in six eastern NATO countries Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Bulgaria and Romania.
Today, Georgia-NATO Commission begins its work with the participation of the Minister of Defense of Georgia – there will be discussed the steps to prepare the country for accession to NATO. NATO countries are going to open its training centers in Georgia and conduct exercises in this country.
Earlier, NATO reported that they would give "political and practical support" to Ukraine and allocate money to strengthen its army. At the same time, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the Alliance itself is not going to supply weapons to Ukraine because they do not have it.
