"Russia is not interested in improving of the opposition in the Donbas. In addition, Russia would like to negotiate with Ukraine alone, but Ukraine is not interested in this format, it accepts the Geneva format. Russia, in its turn, does not want it, because then it will actually have to admit its participation in the destabilization of the situation in the Donbas," Mahda said.
At the same time, according to Mahda, one can not be sure that the United States will agree to participate in such negotiations.
"I can not speak for them. I think that if there is a corresponding political decision, they will go for it," the analyst said.
Earlier, it was reported that on January 31 the next round of tripartite talks in Minsk ended with nothing. They were attended by the second President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov, as well as representatives of the separatists Denis Pushylin and Vladyslav Daineho.
