Russia to ban Wikipedia

Censorship in Russia made itself felt again. Alexander Biserov, Federal Education and Science Supervision Agency's Deputy Head made a proposal to prohibit popular online encyclopedia Wikipedia in Russia. The official believes that the resource contains a large number of errors, and it has to be censored.

"It's my opinion, and I have repeatedly expressed it. I would ban Wikipedia. I would simply censor it because the number of errors it contains is really huge," Alexander Biserov says.

In such a way Federal Education and Science Supervision Agency's Deputy Head responded to the common practice used among students to cheat at the exams, using a mobile phone to access the internet and search for information on Wikipedia.

Previously, some Russian politicians have repeatedly suggested putting some articles on Wikipedia or the entire encyclopedia on a ban list.
