Norman Atlantic ferry disaster: five dead

The Italian car ferry was making its way from Greece to Italy when the fire broke out.

The Norman Atlantic, the Italian ferry car was moving from Patras in Greece to Ancona in Italy carrying 478 passengers: one Romanian, two Russians, six Austrians, two Hungarians, ten Swiss, one Croat, eight Georgians, five Syrians, one Swede, one Canadian, two Ukrainians, one Egyptian, 18 Germans, 54 Turk, two Afghans, 22 Albanians, one Maltese, seven Bulgarians, three citizens of the former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia, two Britons, 22 Italians, three Dutch, three Belgians, nine French, two Iraqis and 234 Greek. The crew consists of 22 Italians and 34 Greeks.
