FEMEN activist protests in Vatican

After the traditional Pope's Christmas message "Urbi et Orbi" ("To the City (of Rome) and to the World") at St. Peter's square in Vatican a FEMEN activist "took the floor" and voiced her "denuded" protest against the position of the church.

According to the press, a FEMEN activist tried to convey to the priests and people left at St. Peter's Square after the speech of the Pontiff her protest against the Church's position on abortion and civil marriages.

With the words "God is woman" painted on her naked chest she managed to get right to the nativity scene.

However, the protest did not last long, as nimble Vatican gendarmes immediately took the woman off the center of the square, covered with a coat, and handed over to police.

It is to be recalled that two months earlier some FEMEN activists appeared topless in front of French President Francois Hollande during his meeting with journalists. "Monsieur President, do you think I'm crazy or just a feminist? You are wrong. We are not exhibitionists, we are engaged in politics," shouted one of them to Hollande.

It is to be recalled that Pope Francis called all believers for peace and reminded them of the existing conflict zones – in Iraq and Syria, Israel and the Palestinian territories, Lebanon and South Sudan. Also he paid particular attention to the conflict in Ukraine.
