It was reported in the International Secretariat of the NATO Headquarters in Brussels. NATO also confirms that if Ukraine decides to become a member, submits the appropriate request and adheres to the necessary principles, it can become a member of NATO, Joinfo.ua reports.

NATO officials also note that if Ukraine decides to apply for membership in the Alliance, its readiness to join the organization will be evaluated on NATO common principles and bases.

It is to be recalled that today, December 23, the Parliament adopted the presidential bill abolishing non-aligned status of Ukraine. 303 deputies out of 369 registered in the session hall voted for this decision.

Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the abolition of non-aligned status of Ukraine or, in fact, the country's integration into NATO, is making it a potential military adversary of the Russian Federation.
